Christ & Grace offers many educational and fun opportunities for children. Christian Education provides creative programs for all ages.
CHRISTIAN FORMATION (Sunday School)
Sunday School classes are offered during the academic year - from September, beginning the Sunday after Labor Day, and ending in May, the Sunday before Memorial Day - for everyone from age 3 through 12th grade.
• Preschool – 5th Grade: Meets during the 10:30 (summer 10:00 AM) Worship Service. Children begin downstairs in free play with class beginning at the very start of the adult service. They then return to worship to receive Communion with their family. Currently class is held on a one-a-month basis (June 9, July 21, and August 11) with more emphasis on adventure and movement and meeting God in nature. Beginning on September 8, children’s education will be offered every Sunday with a curriculum that will offer our youngest members a chance to hear God’s word and explore how it can lead to a closer relationship to Him through lessons Jesus taught, hands on activities, and music. We welcome all parents and grandparents to join us for class and lead the lesson anytime they feel called.
• Youth: Students in grades 6-12 meet on Sundays during the academic year from 9:30 - 10:15 AM for fellowship and study. They use the Sunday lectionary readings and/or current events as a basis for their discussions, along with monthly outreach activities and meeting for fellowship in homes.
While children are welcome at both services, the 10:30 service is our primary family service. Worship bulletins for children ages 3-12, which include coloring activities and pencil games based on the lectionary lessons for that particular Sunday, are provided. Youth take roles as acolytes and once a year lead an entire service, including messages for the children and adults.
Our fellowship ministry programs provide opportunities for fellowship and formation for pre-school and elementary-age children and their families. The first Wednesday night of each month at 6:00 p.m. we gather for a potluck supper. Movie nights, field trips, breakfasts, luncheons, picnics and socials are offered throughout the year. Check our calendar, weekly bulletin or newsletter for these scheduled activities.
